The Biggest Card Shows Still Ahead, Month by Month
A few of the biggest shows of the year have already come and gone, but plenty are still ahead. Card Shows Nearby has 22 upcoming show dates listing 300 or more tables: 13 in October, 8 in November, and one in December. Here they are in date order, with hours and prices as the organizers list them.
October: the biggest weekend is Oct 9–11
Six shows with 300-plus tables overlap that weekend. The Derby City Card Show at the KY Expo Center in Louisville runs Thursday through Sunday, Oct 8–11, with 700-plus tables and tickets from $10 to $90 depending on the day and tier. The Collector's Showcase in Concord, NC runs Oct 9–11 with 600 tables for $12. The Commerce Card Show in Jefferson, GA runs Oct 10–11 with 450 tables, 9am to 5pm, and free admission. The Monster Collectible Show in Sacramento (350 tables, $13, VIP $38), the SD Card Show at Del Mar Fairgrounds (350 tables, $10), and The TCG Jamboree in Westminster, MD (400 tables, $10, Oct 10 only) round out the weekend.
After that, the big ones spread out. Front Row Card Show brings 480 tables to the Greater Tacoma Convention Center on Oct 17–18. The Collector Expo in Boxborough, MA has 325 tables on Oct 18 for $10. The weekend of Oct 24–25 has three: Front Row in Las Vegas (770 tables), the Virginia Beach Sports Card, Pokemon, Comic Book & Collectibles Expo (400 tables, free), and the Lexington KY Sports Cards & Collectibles Show on Saturday the 24th (315 tables, free).
The month ends on Halloween weekend with the Sports Cards, TCGs & Non-Sports Card Convention at the York Expo Center in York, PA: 700 tables, 10am to 4pm on Oct 31 and Nov 1, for $10. Lexington, KY runs another 315-table free show the same Saturday.
November: Dallas leads, and Front Row keeps touring
The Chester County Card Show in West Chester, PA kicks off the month on Sunday, Nov 1, with 300-plus tables ($5 at 10am, or $10 for 9am early entry). The Dallas Card Show in Allen, TX runs Nov 5–8 with 700-plus tables, from Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon, with tickets from $15 to $35. Front Row has three more November stops: Atlanta at the Cobb Convention Center (Nov 7–8, 450 tables), Orlando at the Hyatt Regency (Nov 14–15, 450 tables), and Pasadena (Nov 21–22, 770 tables). Front Row admission is $10, with kids 10 and under free, and hours are 11am to 5pm both days.
The Northeast Sports Card Expo at the Marriott Boston Quincy runs Nov 21–22 with 300 tables ($15, or $20 for early entry, under 12 free). The weekend after, Nov 28–29, brings the East Coast Collectibles Convention (EC3CON) to the Earth Expo Center at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, with 350 tables ($20 general admission, $30 early bird, under 12 free), and the New England Card Show in Burlington, VT with 400 tables ($15 early, $10 general).
December: one huge finale
The year's largest listing is also its last big stop. Front Row takes over State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ on Dec 12–13 with 800 tables, 11am to 5pm, for $10 (kids 10 and under free).
Just under the line
If 300 tables is a bit much, a few shows come close. The Best Flippin' Card Show at the Valley Forge Casino in King of Prussia, PA has 275 tables on Oct 31 and Nov 1 ($10). The Sports Card and Pokemon Show in Palmer Township, PA has 275 tables on Oct 17 ($5). And the CHAOS Expo at Valley Forge Casino Resort runs Nov 14–15 with 200-plus tables ($10, under 12 free).
The free ones
Four of the 22 don't charge admission: the Commerce Card Show in Georgia, the Virginia Beach expo, and both Lexington, KY dates.
Planning for a big floor
Walk the whole floor once before you buy, wear comfortable shoes, and bring cash in smaller bills. On the multi-day shows, check the hours for each day, since many open for just a few hours on Friday or Thursday evening. Hours, prices, and table counts come from each organizer and can change, so check the show page before you travel.
The big shows are worth planning around. Pick one or two, book early if you're staying overnight, and let the smaller local shows fill in the rest of your calendar.
