Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
1. Introduction
- This Privacy Policy explains how Card Shows Nearby ("Card Shows Nearby," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you visit cardshowsnearby.com or use our services (collectively, the "Service").
- By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
- This policy is written to be as specific and complete as possible about our actual data practices. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and we encourage you to contact us with any questions.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, username, password (stored in hashed/encrypted form by our authentication provider, never in plain text), profile photo, banner image, bio, location, website, phone number, and social media links you choose to add.
- Google sign-in information: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google as part of the authentication process. We do not receive your Google password.
- Show and shop submissions: event details, venue and address information, organizer or shop contact details (email and phone) used for verification purposes, category tags, admission and vendor pricing, photos you upload, and any additional notes you provide. Organizer contact details are never displayed publicly unless you separately choose to add them to your public profile.
- Claims and change requests: information submitted when you claim an organizer or shop profile, or request a correction to an existing listing, including any notes you write describing the requested change.
- Table interest submissions: when you express interest in a vendor table at a show, we collect your first and last name, company (optional), email, and phone number, and share it with that show's organizer so they can follow up with you.
- Contact form submissions: your name, email, optional phone number, the topic you select, and your message.
- Newsletter subscriptions: your email address, and the source (e.g. signup flow or landing page) through which you subscribed.
- Usage and activity data: zip codes or locations you search, shows you save or mark as attending, organizers and shops you follow, and pages you visit.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and general analytics collected automatically through Vercel Web Analytics. We do not use this data to build individual advertising profiles.
- Location data you provide: if you use "Use My Location" or enter a zip code to search, we use that location only to calculate distances to shows and shops near you.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
- To operate core features: search, saved shows, attending status, following organizers and shops, submitting and browsing listings, and organizer/shop claims.
- To review, approve, deny, or otherwise moderate show submissions, shop listings, claims, and change requests.
- To relay vendor table interest submissions to the relevant show organizer.
- To send you transactional emails (e.g. confirming a submission, notifying you of an approval or denial, or responding to a contact form message) and, if you opt in, our newsletter.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service, including automated screening of user-submitted text for prohibited content.
- To understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g. which categories or regions are most popular) so we can improve the Service.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to serve third-party targeted advertising.
4. How We Share Your Information
- With service providers who process data on our behalf, under obligations consistent with this policy, including: Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Resend (transactional and newsletter email delivery), Vercel (website hosting and analytics), Google (sign-in authentication, when you choose to use it), and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (geocoding zip codes and addresses to map coordinates).
- With show or shop organizers, limited to the information necessary to act on a submission you make to them — for example, your contact details when you express interest in a vendor table.
- Publicly, only the profile information you choose to display (display name, username, bio, location, avatar, banner, and any social or website links you add). Your email address and phone number are never shown on your public profile.
- If required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
- We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session preferences (such as whether to stay logged in on a shared or personal device).
- We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand aggregate site traffic. This does not use persistent tracking cookies to build cross-site advertising profiles.
- You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may prevent you from staying signed in.
6. Data Retention
- We retain account information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- Show and shop listings you submit may remain publicly visible after you delete your account, since other collectors rely on that information for planning — but the listing is unlinked from your personal account and no longer shows your name as the associated user.
- Contact form submissions, table interest submissions, and newsletter subscriptions are retained as needed to respond to your inquiry or fulfill the subscription, and can be deleted upon request.
7. Data Security
- We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls, to protect your information.
- Passwords are never stored in plain text; authentication is handled by our authentication provider using secure, industry-standard hashing.
- No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
- The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and correction: you can view and edit most of your profile information at any time from your profile's Edit Profile screen.
- Deletion: you can permanently delete your account from your Profile page. This removes your profile and account permanently, along with your saved/attending shows, follows, and pending claims or change requests. This action cannot be undone. Shows or shops you organize remain listed but are unlinked from your account.
- Newsletter opt-out: every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, or you may contact us directly to be removed.
- Access requests: you may request a copy of, or ask us to delete, the personal information we hold about you by contacting us via the Contact Us page.
- California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), so no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out is required. California residents otherwise have the same access, deletion, and correction rights described above.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable law. Contact us and we will do our best to accommodate valid requests.
10. International Users
- The Service is hosted in the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
11. Third-Party Links
- The Service may contain links to third-party websites (such as an organizer's own website or social media page). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date below and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
13. Contact Us
- Questions, requests, or concerns about this policy or your personal information can be sent via the Contact Us page or to info@cardshowsnearby.com.
